I bought this book back at Codebits but only finished reading it now. The Myths of Innovation was written by Scott Berkun, who has worked in Microsoft and was a professor at the University of Washington. The book is relatively small (176 pages) and very good looking. It demystifies several innovation preconceptions like good ideas are hard to find or the best ideas win, while lending you advices on how you should innovate.
The fact that I took some time to finish the book has nothing to do with the book itself and only because I’ve been a bit busy in the last months. The book is read very quick, like one big story, and contains a lot of history trivia from several known innovators like Newton and Thomas Edison. It contains also a large number of references which are ranked by in the end by the author, an useful idea.
It won’t teach you how to run a startup or how to start innovating immediately, but it has some good advices to keep your mind entertained.
There’s no sample chapter for this book. However, there is one from Scott’s first book, now called Making things happen.
