I’ve tried already some LMSs, even in my university the most used one – Moodle – is used in several subjects. Although some of these platforms are very complete for eLearning purposes, I usually feel the need for something more focused on creation of content and specially more simple.
My ideal platform would just have a simple article creation system like the usual blog platforms, easy uploading and insertion of images and also videos in the article itself and maybe some way to divide an article in different parts. In a upper level we would just have categories to aggregate the articles, nothing fancy. The idea is just to take off all n features LMSs usually have, that increases the time and effort of content creation.
Of course that just with content creation we wouldn’t have any learning features. So add to the platform a backend for user/group management and just give them some tracking methods through the categories and articles and you would have yourself a very nice and usable system for knowledge transmission. Feel free to add tests and assessment features, but for me that kind of platform would just be enough.
So here you have an idea for a project, if your feeling productive and with free time. I’m not really planing executing this in the near future, but I would love to see something like this up and running. I even named it: Leaves (like in the picture). If you like to share more ideas or features for this project, be sure to leave a comment with them.
